Features Up and Running in the New Duet

About

Creating a new version of Duet has opened up the door for all sorts of improvements. It is a labor of love to go through the product development process, for each feature, to deliver a version of Duet that fulfills your needs like never before.

We have a lot of things planned. So to keep you informed about which features are currently up and running in the new version, we have created this article.

Features Up and Running in the New Duet

As of January 2024, the following features are up and running in the new Duet:
  1. Billing
  2. Calendar
  3. Communications
  4. Dashboard
  5. Settings
  6. Smart Season Scheduler
  7. Student List
  8. Studio Subscription
Below are more details about each feature.

Billing

In the billing feature, you can:
  1. Bill your studio families by sending them an online statement.
  2. Have the ability to let your studio families pay for statements online with a credit card and/or through Apple Pay.
  3. Keep track of all financial transactions organized by studio family. This includes being able to manually create transactions to keep track of students who pay with cash or check.
  4. Know who owes you money at a glance.
  5. Search and filtering features.
  6. Choose a student subscription type. You can charge for lessons either per lesson, once a month, every 3 months, every 6 months, or yearly.
  7. Keep track of attendance.

Calendar

In the calendar, you can:
  1. Add, edit, view, and delete private lesson, group lessons, recital events, consultations with prospective students, and personal appointments such as a doctors visit.
  2. View your calendar in either Month or Week view.
  3. Easily navigate from one month, or week, to another.
  4. Search and filtering features.
  5. Add, edit, view, and delete what we call Availability times so you can use the self-scheduling feature.

Communications

Currently most communications are automatically handled by the software. Such as lesson reminders and a variety of smart scheduling communications.

It is important to know that, by default, Duet will send most communications to cell phones as a text message. If no cell phone is listed or the cell phone number is incorrect, or for some reason the text doesn't go through Duet will send the communication to an email address instead.

For this feature to work make sure that all of your studio families have a cell phone and email address filled out when you add your students. Also make sure that your studio information also has your cell phone and email address filled out as well.

Duet also has a feature that allows you to send an email to your studio families through your Duet studio.

Dashboard

Your dashboard is where you can gain quick access to todays, upcoming, or past lessons/events.

You can also get a quick view of who's birthday is coming up, and a link to the latest Duet blog articles.

Settings

Settings is broken up into three tabs: Studio, Messaging, Calendar.

Studio Tab
This is where basic information about your studio is kept. Such as the name of your studio, your cell phone number, and studio address.

Messaging Tab
In here is where you can:
  1. Make edits to automated emails that go out, such as the Event Reminder email.
  2. Edit your email signature.

Calendar Tab
In the calendar settings you can:
  1. Add, edit, and delete calendar categories.
  2. Add, edit, and delete teaching locations.

Smart Season Scheduler

By just feeding Duet some information, Duet will create your lesson schedule for you. For more information about this feature, see the Season Smart Scheduling 101 tutorial series

Student List

The student list is where you keep track of your studio families. Attached to each student is a primary contact. You can:
  1. Add, view, edit, and delete students and primary contacts.
  2. Filter and search your student list.
  3. Import studio families into your student list from a .csv file.
  4. Email your students.

Studio Subscription

Keep track of your subscription information. Such as know when your next payment is.
